Step 1: Create a design using AI art

For this projects I used an AI to create some tulips. This is the prompt that I used:

“Create a silhoutte of a ready to cut laser cut design. The theme is tulips”

Step 2: Import into XCS

  1. After creating the base design with an AI, download and import the PNG file into XCS
  2. Edit the image and delete the unwanted background
  3. Use the trace function to be able to score and cut the design
Step 3: Create a baseplate

  1. Add a circle with 250x250mm to the canvas
  2. Place the circle on top of the flowers
  3. Make a copy of that circle and move it to the side
  4. Select the circle and the flower design and click on Unite → Unite at overlap
  5. Make a copy of the flower design and move it to the side

  1. With the help of the scoring function we can easily place the parts that we are going to cut on the baseplate
  2. Select the copy of the flower design and place it at the bottom edge of your baseplate
  3. Make sure to align it perfectly
  4. Move the design to a different layer for easier selection
  5. Set the processing parameters to Score
Step 5: Add words to your design

  1. Add what ever words you want to display on your door decoration
  2. Choose a font that fits the theme of your craft
  3. Make a copy of your words and move them to the side
  4. Now place your words on top of the baseplate
  5. Set the processing parameters to Score and move your selection to the corresponding layer
Step 6: Add additional elements

  1. Add other elements that go well with your theme
  2. I used a butterfly from the xTool XCS shapes
  3. Add 2 circles to the top of the baseplate to be able to attach a ribbon to your creation
Step 7: Set processing parameters
  1. If you followed my instructions you will now have 2 layers of different colors
  2. Set the processing parameters to Score and Cut and adjust them to your preferences

  1. Let your xTool laser machine cut the design
Step 9: Paint and assemble
  1. If you don't have acrylic of different colors, you can just cut black acrylic and use chalk spray paint to cover it up.
  2. Once my spray painted acrylic was dry, I simply placed the cutouts according to the design that was scored onto the baseplate.
  3. Add a ribbon to the baseplate
  4. You're done :)
