BIc Lighter Leather Keychain - xTool Projects
I often use lighters with my leather work and i run out at times so i try to keep them on hand and i wanted one on my keychain as a "last resort" backup that will always be in my everyday use. These never fall out or get lost and you can customize them any way you want or can think of.

This template is set to score because i hand cut and punch leather but you can always adjust to cut to your needs.

Pick out what leather will be used for this project.

You can always choose to engrave a vector or bitmap on just make sure to adjust to correct settings.

I used oil tanned leather so cutting and engraving will have to be ventilated properly to ensure you dont inhale smoke from the chromium tanning process.

The amount of leather need will be 2.75in x 5in or 69.8mm x 127mm, it really only needs to fit around the bic lighter beforehand or around 2mm of spacing in between the ends wrapped around the lighter.

Use a sharp knife and a leather punch to cut out the score or you can adjust the settings yourself to cut through the leather completely.

Step 2: Fit Metal Pieces On/ Stitch

The bottom strap isn't too necessary to hold the lighter, so it can be cut off but ensures it won't fall out if made and stitched properly.

If you don't have the metal pieces don't worry just make the cuts provided and the hole on top can still be used without a grommet.

If all metal pieces are in place, wrap the leather around the lighter and start a cross stitch with one long piece of thread from the top where the grommet goes, down to the bottom stitch and tie a knot then burn the edges and press waxed thread together.

After this you should have a fully completed Bic lighter case, either custom or not these are very beautiful pieces and easy to make in bulk! I hope everyone has a great time making these and enjoys them as much as my wife has.
