Step 1: Designing

The first step is to draw all the components in Sketchup Make. I use the template of a picture to get the approximate dimensions. Then I think about where I want to install a small hiding place and which mechanism I want to use to open it. The mechanism has to be relatively simple so that it is stable enough for the small installation space. I like to use rubber bands to keep something (in this case a drawer) under tension and then open it with a trigger. In this case, the trigger is the "accelerator pedal" of the tractor.

Step 2: Export DXF and editing

I then copy the contour of the individual parts and export a DXF file, which I can then edit in XTool Creative Space. For example, I have marked in the image where you can insert text so that this text can be seen on the bottom of the small drawer later. When I have finished customizing, I cut the parts with the above settings.

Step 3: Assembly

The last step is a little trickier. But the pictures should make it easier for you to assemble the tractor. I originally intended the engine compartment to house something (for example, small electronics with lights). That's also what the opening on the hood is for, so that you can press a button, for example.

The small drawer can be assembled separately. Before inserting the drawer, don't forget to tighten the rubber band at the point marked in the picture and only then insert the drawer. You must then press the accelerator pedal up once from below after you have pushed the drawer in. If you now release the drawer first, the tension of the rubber band should be sufficient to press the drawer against the accelerator pedal.

Step 4: Opening the drawer

Here you can see a short GIF on how to open the drawer. If you press the accelerator pedal (I know, you need slightly thinner fingers here :D), the drawer should open or shoot out depending on the tension of the rubber band.

Have fun building and using the tractor!
