Enhance your festive decorations for the upcoming 4th of July celebrations with this project. The design invites you to express your creativity in painting the backing board. You can adjust the size to create either wall art or a card. Consider placing the design in a picture frame to be displayed on a table alongside your Independence Day snacks while enjoying the fireworks.

Step 1: Adjust the Design

I've included the design file for this project, but you may need to make adjustments for your needs.  The dimensions are for a 7x10 inch frame, but you may need to adjust for a more standard frame size.  To do this, simply select all elements of the design and use the length and width properties to set the dimensions.

Step 2: Settings
Setting 1
Process Method

The settings are for the D1 5W laser.  You may need to adjust the settings for your laser configuration.

Be sure to follow all the safety guidelines for your laser and always wear personal protective equipment when the laser is in operation.

Step 3: Paint the backing board

Once the laser completed cutting out the backing board and the card stock with the design, I then used craft paint to paint red, white and blue in random areas of the backing board.  The goal is to ensure each element of the design has all three colors within it and in a random placement.

TIP:  it is best to begin with white to prevent the colors from mixing as much.  You may also want to wait for each layer to dry.

Step 4: Assemble

The last step is to place the design cut in the card stock onto the backing board.  You can use almost any adhesive since the card stock is paper.
