I took the banners made out of felt that I made for my wife and turned them into badges made out of 3mm basswood.
Do a material test for engraving and one for cutting the wood you use. I set up a layer to engrave the design first and then I set up the next layer to score the rest of the design. Last I set up the setting to cut out the badge itself.
Now that you have the settings correct, go ahead and lay out the piece of wood. If you have material pins go ahead and use them (not necessary though). Frame your project to make sure the laser won't bump into the pins. Once you are confrontable with everything go ahead and hit start.
If you need pins, these are useful ( xTool Honeycomb Material Pin )
You want to go ahead and glue a bar pin on the back of the badge to be able to fasten it to your shirt or coat. Make sure to level the pin before you glue it so it will go on straight. Let it dry before you begin to paint the front.
Now go ahead and paint the badges if you would like. The attached photos show the colors we used to paint each badge. You do not have to paint them, but I think the paint makes them look better. I hope you enjoy my design that I got from the banners I made.
