Summary
Light light ;-) This lampshade is really light, it only weighs 32 grams. My idea was to make something really delicate and stylish. I made different designs with cheap plywood, in the end I wanted to realize it with 3 mm aircraft plywood, but that didn't work at all. This material just doesn't suit the laser: 100% power, 3 mm/s speed and 3 passes! It's a pain to watch. And the edges look like after a forest fire ... So I stuck with poplar plywood. It works really well! It's a bit annoying that the thicknesses here in the stores are not correct at all: 4 mm is sometimes 3.5 and 3 mm is 2.7 et cetera. In the scs file, the joints are 3.5 mm. So the 4 mm wood fits for me and holds without glue. The fact that the whole thing is just an inspiration and not a finished project can be seen from the Japanese paper of the lampshade, which has not yet been cut to size ... And finally, a commercial: I attached the Extension Kit to my D1 Pro last week. I don't regret it. This is the first job I've done with it. It's really cool: you don't have to think and organize so much, you can laser everything at once and you can also process much larger plywood sheets.
