I also made them to help the students to diversify their spread of products to sell. they made many christmas ornaments which were all hand cut and painted! they came out epic

I used Glowforge Ecothin acrylic. I bought it at Michaels craft store. The sheets are 12x12 and are currently 30 percent off so about 9/10 dollars. please note, do not buy blue acrylic if you are going to be using a diode laser. I purchased hardware on amazon for 10 dollars. the set makes 70+pairs
