  • Summary

This is a prototype. I just wanted to see how easy and, above all, how quickly you can make a box like this that works. So seven boards glued together with wood glue without complicated joints. The whole project took less than an hour.

    1) On the top level there is a cut-out for the negatives and slides. In my case for 35mm films.

    2) The middle layer has a larger cut-out for a diffuser. To diffuse and distribute the light evenly. I used super-thin translucent paper. Depending on the situation, several layers.

    3) Then follows a small board at a 45 degree angle, which deflects the light from outside (flash, lamp, iPhone) upwards.

    4) To set it up correctly at the beginning, you can place a piece of paper on top instead of a negative and then move and adjust the light source until it fits, i.e. the entire surface is evenly illuminated.

    5) The negative strips can be weighted down with coins. Yes, I know, there are more elegant solutions ;-)

    6) It works perfectly: See pictures: Holidays in the 70ties in Greece and Queen Saarbrücken, August 18th, 1979
