Most people have already traveled somewhere in the world. And what could be nicer than looking at a map of the world and marveling at where you've been, but then also being happy about where you've come from! This world map is the perfect gift for this!
First, I created a low-poly version of a world map in Sketchup make so that I could easily laser-cut it without leaving thousands of small islands and corners and edges anywhere. I then exported a DXF file from this.
In Xtool Creative Space, the size of this map can now be customized! You can also add symbols and text, as shown in the project and in the image, and mark your home country or countries you have been to, for example.
In the last step, cut the world map pieces with the above setting. I cut out the rectangle again in the same size to have a background on which to stick the continents. But the nice thing is that you now also have a negative that can be used! So either two world maps in one, or you can use the whole thing as a puzzle! The perfect thing about lasering is that the pieces fit together perfectly afterwards.
Have fun lasering!
