Description
I knew I'd end up sending out engraved gifts of some sort this year. Ultimately, I settled on a series of designs I had purchased in a stained glass design book, Prairie Designs for Stained Glass Windows by Alex Spatz. I scanned and used each of the round patterns, then used XCS's tracing ability to create vector graphic for each design.

I customized each ornament with the name of the family they were going to and "Christmas 2023" or just "2023" at the bottom. I used a font for this I've had for years called Eaglefeather, also inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright.

I also created a second canvas to engrave the backs with a greeting. I ran this after flipping all the engraved ornaments.

Using fine-tip oil pens, I filled in some of the shapes. Frank Lloyd Wright's art glass designs commonly used color sparsely for effect. Overall, I made over a dozen of these that I strung with ribbon loops and inserted into foam inserts I cut with my M1 and adhered to the interior of holiday greeting cards.

I can't share my design files since I used copyrighted artwork by the author of the design book. If you're inspired by this idea, consider getting a copy for yourself from Amazon.
