Step 1) First thing for this project is to prepare the base, this is done by finding a suitable piece of rough lumber, the size is entirely up to you. Then take a light solid color porcelain tile. you will want to chi away the edges of the tile to fit about 1/2" less than the wood so the wood makes a border. The tile is then glued to the wood. The tile can easily be chipped away with plyers if you don't have a proper tile chipper tool. ( wear safety glasses while chipping the tile)

Step 2) In this step the border of the piece in this case the wood background is taped off so no paint gets on it and the surface of the tile gets 2 coats of fast drying paint. the color here is not really important as long as you give it a clean even coat.

Step 4) Once the laser has finished it's job the pieces looks down right horrible, it looks like a failure but, what is next changes it completely. With a scraper or razor blade simply scrape off all of the paint. This leaves you with just the engraved area's darkened to make the art piece complete. Once on the wall it will be enjoyed.
