Step 1: Start with the design
On this project let's begin with the cutout design provided in the file. Depending upon the card style you want, you will need to follow these steps to align the design on the card you select. For this project I am using 8.5x11 inch card stock.
Let's add in text below the design. The stencil font works well for cutouts like this.
Step 2: Add a box for alignmnet
Since we are using 8.5x11 inch card stock, we need to set a rectangle to 5.5x8.5inches. This is because in the end we will fold the sheet in half. Place the rectangle around the design to help align the parts. You may need to scale the design down to fit inside the box.

Most of the settings are cutouts, so we will use 90% power and 6mm/s speed.
Step 4: Cutout and add inner Accent color paper
To finish off the project, let's run the job on the laser. The D1 with a 5w laser does a great job of cutting through the card stock, however there are several small parts to this design that you will need to poke out. Be sure to follow the safety rules that go with your laser. Always wear personal protective equipment when using the laser.
Tip: watch out about getting black from the cut onto the front of the card like i did. I suggest poking the parts that don't fall out through and then pulling them off from the back of the paper. try not to touch the front.
After the cutout is done and you have all of the small parts poked out, you can then cut a small sheet of paper to add the accent color. For this project we chose to use pink paper with a textured front.
