3D Mother's Day Card in XCS - Make your own! - xTool Projects
Is it a card? Is it a gift? It's both! I have seen and made numerous wooden cards with punch outs to make a free standing gift. Well, making your own is both easy and a great way to learn how to use the functionality offered in XCS. I also offer tips on modifying it with an image of your choice that any mother is sure to love.

  1. Once your card is completed remove all the pieces from the XTool.  turn it to the back side and put all the pieces back in the slots they were cut out of. Make sure the scoring is facing down.
  2. take masking or painters tape nd cover the back side of your card.  Make sure that the tape is tightly pressed to the wood so that it holds all of the pieces in plage.
  3. turn your card over (right way facing up) and press the pieces again to make sure they are stuck to the masking tape.
  4. Feel free to color your image and the surrounding scored embellishments. I use fine-tipped acrylic paint pens but you can also use paint and a paint brush. Be creative and color as much or as little as you'ld like.
  5. I leave the salutation (engraved) plain as I like the engraved look of the wood but you can color this as well or use a bit of apoxy with mica powder to give it color as well.
  6. The file attached is a bicycle for mother's day but I have included pictures of one I made for a boating friend's birthday as well.  Feel free to modify for any occasion. I will be doing on for my nephew who is graduating high school this year and adding cut out round circles for money (rolled paper currency)
