So yes we have a little puppy, well not so much of a puppy any more she turn 8 years old in January, but she has been such a fun dog and we have captured her in so many different photos. So for this project I am making a doggy photo frame with just a fraction of the snap shots I have taken of her.

step 1) The first step for this dog photo frame a rectangle was entered into the work area, it was sized to accommodate the photo sizes that we being used. Once there was 4 of these sized rectangles were made by sizing the first one and copy and pasting 3 more times. These 4 rectangles were positioned in a square shape leaving a small hole in the center.

Step 2) Once again another rectangle was brought in using the insert button and it too was sized accordingly to create a border for each corner, once the first one was sized it was copied and pasted 3 more times and all 4 were placed in the spots they needed.

Step 3) Now that the main frame was designed with an inner area for photo's I grouped all 4 inner rectangles and moved them out of the way so the main frame could have more added to it. First I inserted a paw and dog bone to the work area, These both got an outline added to them by using the outline feature, this outline was not much larger than the paw and bone were to begin with just enough to see it.

Step 4) Now the fun starts, I took the outside outline of the paws and positioned them both on the top of the frame near the edges, I left the inside part right were they were for now. I need to make a second paw so I copied and pasted a second one. Now for he bones, they too need to be copied and a second one pasted but this time I need to reverse one of the to have a left and a right for the bottom of the frame. The bone shapes that were placed on the main frame were also the outside outlines as well, just like the paws.

Step 5) Now that the main frame had 2 paws in the top corners and 2 bones in the bottom corners it was time to unite it all, by overlapping the 4 object ever so slightly it allowed the unite work perfectly using the combine button. Now that the frame has got the paws and bones added it was time to move the inside parts of these object into place, the paws were duplicated and easily went into place bone the second copy of the bone needed to be flipped just like the outside did. So once that was done using the reflect option it too was placed in the bottom corner. Now that that was completed it was time to select the 2 inside paws and 2 inside bones to score this was done by clicking on one of them and moving and click each other one all while holding down the shift key, then a simple right click of the mouse to select group. I then adjusted the setting for scoring these 4 items 30% power 20mm/s speed and 1 pass.

Step 6) Now on to add a name, with the text button you are greeted with the default hello, this can be changed in the edit box which I have and changed it to my dog's name Pepsi. I choose the font and sized it to look good between the paws, once this was complete it too was added to the main frame by using the combine feature and selecting unite. this made the name pepsi part of the main frame. Now that it was all ready I adjusted the cut setting for everything except the scoring parts, 100% power 5mm/s speed and 2 full passes.

Step 7) Now hat all of the frame was ready to be sent to the Xtool laser, I also wanted to have a backing, this was a simple square the size of the frame without the added paws and bones, there was no need to copy the entire front to use on the back it to was cut with the same setting as the frame.

Step 8) I am not going to bore you with the assembly as it was a simple line up the 4 photos and glue the backing on the frame so it wouldn't be flimsy. Here is the doggy photo frame with the 4 pictures hanging on the wall. Hope some day you can find the time to try one for yourself. Enjoy!
