Step 1: Download the Bunny Book Nook file

Download the bunny book nook file and open in XCS. You may need to adjust the layers or spacing based off of the wood that you are using. You can NOT resize the file unless you adjust for a different thickness of wood. Be sure that you have the proper engraving, scoring, and cutting lines addressed to the file prior to running it through the machine. The file is color coded/separated by layers.

Step 2: Cut out all of your pieces

It is very important not to resize any of the pieces or they may not fit properly. Measure twice, cut once. Double check the files prior to cutting. I used the preset of 3mm Basswood Plywood supplied by Xtool. Measure the thickness of your wood. I have the slots set at 2.9 for a nice tight fit (my wood measures 2.8-2.9). If your wood is thicker you will need to adjust the small rectangular slots that fit the insertion pieces.

Step 3: Put your puzzle together

I highly recommend assembling the pieces prior to painting so you know exactly what goes where. I have included some pictures and video to assist in this process. Do not glue or put anything in place permanently as you have to separate it again to paint it. Be sure to mark the outsides of the box so you know which sides to paint.

Step 4: Paint your pieces

I used acrylic paint and fine tip paint pens for the detailed pieces. I used spray paint for the outside of the book nook and the window frames. Be sure you are painting the proper sides of everything.

Step 5: Assemble the inside of your project first.

After all of your pieces are painted and dried go ahead and assemble the inside of the project. Be mindful of how you will put your lights on the project. I have included a video that shows how I chose to assemble mine. I purchased my lights off of amazon (be sure to choose the brights light you can so it show through the floor. I chose Loc-Tite precision tip super glue to hold pieces in place. You will need to add the lights prior to assembling the outside of the box.

Use the pictures to help understand where all of the pieces go.

Step 6: Add the strip LED lights

I glued the strip lights between the layers and underneath the box. Add the lighting between the outside layer and inside layer of the project. Be sure to use lights that are very bright so they can illuminate the project throught the floor and through the window.

Step 7: Assemble the outside of the box

After the lights have been added and the frames are glued where they need to be, then you will add the outside layers of the box. You may also choose to add moss, florals, etc, to the project.

Step 8: Enjoy!

After the lighting is added and the outer box is assembled turn off the lights and light up your new book nook!
