  1. Decide the size of your sign
  2. Create  a box, rectangle or whatever shape you want your sign to be (This is only being used as a guideline for setting up the sign).
  3. Layout what you want on the sign either with images or text as I did. Part of my sign was engraved and part was going to be cut out. For this reason it helps to have it all laid out first. Select the size of the font
  4. Since I will be cutting out the text to be glued on later, I chose a text that connects so I can cut it out as one piece. I used Angelina Font since it will connect and cut as one piece.
  5. If you need to adjust the text to add the s and make it connect just use the Y space and H Space to move the letter so it is touching the L. Once it is touching click on weld or Booleon Union from the tools menu, this will merge everything together into one piece.
  6. I painted a 3mm piece of baltic birch white prior to cutting out the name and touched up after cutting.
  7. Since the “happy hacienda” portion of the sign was engraved on the board you can use whatever font you want.
  8. the Est and the year I cut out as individual letters since they were being added individually
  9. I sanded the boards and then stained with a dark walnut stain
  10. While waiting for the wood to dry, I used the 3mm basswood and cut out the names. I had painted the wood white using Rustoleum 2X  Gloss White prior to cutting out the name and touched up after.
  11. Once the board has dried, I engraved the happy hacienda portion on the board. Since my outline was already set to the same shape and size of the board, I already had the engraved section where I wanted it. Make sure to frame first
  12. Settings for the D1 Pro 20 watt to engrave was Speed 4000 and Power 60 with 1 pass  using Lightburn
  13. I then took the white painted baltic birch and cut out the name and letters using Speed 420, Power 80 1 Pass
  14. After cutting the name and letters out, I touched up the paint before gluing the to the sign board.
  15. I then glued the name and EST. 2020 to the boardand added string to hang it
  16. Once everything had dried I added several coats of Triple Thick Crystal Clear Glaze
  17. You now have a very beautiful personalized gift.

Thank you for taking time to review my project.
