I first tried to make a keyring of Lando's beach ball helmet he used in Miami but after a few attempts I wasn't happy with the results so I made some other McLaren themed designs with some nice bright orange acrylic.

I was quite happy with the end result and they make great summer keyrings.

Step 1: Making the design in XCS

I have included the design file so if you want to make the keyrings exactly like mine you can skip this step.

But here is how I made the design incase you want to use different images.

  1. Find the images on Google. I used the McLaren logo, and the number and logo of their driver Lando Norris. (Note these are company logos and will be subject to copyright.)
  2. Use the ‘Trace Image’ feature in XCS to convert the images to vector lines.
  3. Use the ‘Outline’ feature to create a boarder that will be cut by the laster.
  4. Add a circle where you would like the keyring to attach, then select both the circle and outline and join them together by selecting ‘Combine’ then ‘Unite’.
Step 2: Cut and engrave

Now its time to cut and engrave your keyrings.

The settings you use will depend on the material and which laser you have.

I used these settings for 3mm orange acrylic on a 5w D1 Pro.

Step 3: Add your keyring

Now all you need to do is add a keyring and your project is complete.
