Step 2) Starting with a clean work area, a few SVG parts are brought in to the work area with the image button, these SVG item were designed with different software and were saved as SVG's for full control with in the XCS software. These pieces were arranged within the heart and a rectangle was brought in using the insert button and with the unite feature the heart was changed using the subtract feature.

Step 3) Once again more objects were added but this time within the xcs software by using the shape list. An flat oval was chosen and inserted within the work area. This oval was resized and placed just near the bottom of the heart.

Step 4) Now that the rectangle was sized and placed the entire project was highlighted and the unite feature was used to combine it all together. Once this was complete a second rectangle was created using the insert button this was to flatten the bottom of the new added oval.

Step 5) In this step the newly added rectangle was sized to cover the bottom of the oval and when highlighted and the subtract bottom was used it took away the bottom and made the oval flat.

Step 6) In this step 2 more objects are added first a circle but once inserted it was stretched horizontally to create a long oval to make a base for the project. The second is a rectangle to become support in the base.

Step 7) Now that we have added the rectangle it is carefully sized to fit the 1/4" or 6.3mm plywood we are using so it fits snug. Once sized correctly it is duplicated by copy and pasting a second one. One of the sized rectangles will be placed under the flat oval created earlier and will be placed just slightly over lapping so when the combine feature and unite option is used it becomes one piece.

Step 8) In this step the large oval that is created for the base is place near the center of the bottom of the flat oval. The alinment tool will help center it perfectly by choosing the horizontal aligning. Once this is in it's proper place the second sized rectangle can be put in line with the new add rectangle from the flat oval so the match. Once in place and knowing it will line up it is grouped together so it does not get moved.

These settings are for all the engravings. This is Baltic birch and with many different plywood you do not want to go to deep with the engravings so the power is set on the lower side.

Step 10) In this step now that everything is in place it is time to set all the settings, For all the engravings will be the same settings and all the cuts will have all the same settings as well.

Step 11) In this step a new canvas is opened from the bottom of the work area and the outline of the heart is copied and pasted there to be alone from all the other objects. This is needed to use the outline feature and to make a zero offset outline. One this is made it can have the settings adjust to be cut like all the other cuts. Note this second backing does not need the support knob like the first one so it does not need to be added.

Step 13) Once the laser has completed all the cuts and all the engraving it was time to glue the pieces together, the gluing is simple wood glue is applied to the back of the bottom level of the project and the 2 pieces are put on top of each other. It is important to line the 2 pieces up to become one.

Step 14) In this step it is time to mix and create the 2 different color resins, these 2 different color resins will be added to the 2 area's for mother and baby. For each color a small amount of colored Mica resin powder is mixed in separate containers and slowly and carefully poured into the area's needed for each color. With this procedure just enough of each color is needed to fill the earlier cut outs of the mother and baby. This doesn't take much time but care is very important to fill it without making a mess. The good thing about resin in the case is it is self leveling so you will want to make sure you are applying or pouring the resin on a very level area. Another thing to be mindful of the resin takes approx 10-24 hours to completely harden so you will want to have it in an area you don't need to move it for that time. Once the resin hardens you then can move it and handle the piece like you normally would any other piece.

Step 15) This step it is the main base that needs painting, The base is lightly sprayed with the red fast drying paint, the edges however do not take paint as well as the top surface of the plywood but with a wood glue trick it can be applied very simply with the end of your finger running along the edge to fill and seal the plywood edges to let the paint cover nicely. Once you apply a light coat of wood glue let it sit for about 15 minutes and you can continue to spray the edges with red paint, as you can see the effect gives it a more finished look.

Step 16) In this step it is almost complete, the only thing now is to glue the newly red painted base to the actual upright of the project, this too is a simple glue job by placing the earlier made pieces together, a light coating of wood glue is applied to the bottom of the upright piece and then clamped together until dry.
