Pokemon card picture frame that can be made as agift for someone. I have it set up as a fathers day gift, however you can change the text to fit any occasion. This project will require some sanding, staining and gluing.
Basic Information is loading...
Step 1: download file of your choice. check settings for your machine and run.

The settings I have saved are the ones that I have found work best for my D1 pro 20w. I like to engrave deeply so that the sanding process does not ruin it. I have split the layers so that layer 1 is for engraving and layer 3 is for cutting(there is no layer 2). You might need to adjust the settings for your machine based on how it performs.  On my machine with my setting it takes about 42 minutes to process.

Step 2: Set small semi circle pieces aside

Set these aside for now. In a safe place. They will be glued on later. Their purpose is to help hold the photo closer to the window in the picture frame.

Step 3: Sand any burn marks off of the remaining pieces

Depending on your settings, you may see minor burn marks around where pieces have been cut. lightly sand them being careful not to lose any details in the piece.

Step 4: Stain the pieces

Stain the pieces with your desired stain color. I found that a lighter stain works best to not hide details, or make it difficult to read. Set aside after and allow them to dry before moving on.

Step 5: Glue back and middle panel together

Evenly apply wood glue to the middle panel(one with the cut out and no engravings). I find it helps to rub the glue on so that it limits how much squeezes out when clamping. Next apply the glued side of the middle panel to the back panel on the side without engraving.  the orientation can be seen in the pictures above.  Once they are placed together get the small semi circles.  Apply glue to the flat side of the semi circle and glue them in place just like in the photo.  Then clamp the middle and back panels together. Make sure to wipe off any glue that squeezes out during clamping. I find that clamping them to a flat surface helps to take any bends out of the plywood.  Allow time for the glue to dry.

Step 6: glue the front panel to the middle and back.

Evenly apply glue to the middle panel. Then place the front panel on it. Clamp them together and let dry. Make sure you wipe off any glue that squeezes out.

Step 7: (optional) sand the outside edge.

I like to sand the outside edge of the project to give it a clean uniform look. To save time I use a belt sander with fine paper. After sanding don't forget to stain the exposed edge. Allow time to dry.

Step 8: Glue the stand legs on

Take the stand legs and apply glue to them. they can be glued on at whatever distance you desire. I like to glue them as far apart as possible. make sure that the pokeball symbols are facing outward. place on a flat surface and make sure they are square. Allow for them to dry.

Step 9: Enjoy!

Now you are ready to gift this bad boy out.
