Dear Creators,
Today is a special day.
From the early days of Makeblock to the creation of xTool, we’ve been on a mission to help people make their mark in the physical world. Everything we know about human civilization—from the stone axes of the Stone Age to the Starship heading to Mars—has been built on the foundation of human creativity.
But in today’s world of information overload, so much of that creativity is being funneled into the virtual realm. We want to bring people’s focus back to the real world. Back to the joy of making something tangible. From a child’s first programming robot to a Christmas ornament engraved with your family’s names, it’s about rediscovering the pride and joy of saying, “I made this.”
This is where Atomm comes in.
Why Atomm?
In 2024, we launched DesignFind—a community for laser creators to share and connect. Over time, it evolved into the world’s largest laser maker community, with more than 20,000 creative projects and inspiration for nearly a million users. But as we grew, it became clear that a content-sharing platform wasn’t enough.
So, we decided to take DesignFind to the next level. We’ve added powerful new features and tools, transforming it into a platform that does more than inspire—it empowers. And with this transformation comes a new name: Atomm.
The name “Atomm” reflects the building blocks of everything in our world. Just like atoms, every creative idea—no matter how small—has the potential to grow into something extraordinary. Atomm represents our vision: to make it easy for creators to bring their ideas to life, to immerse themselves in the joy of making, and to bridge the gap between imagination and reality.
Atomm: Making Creativity Smarter, Simpler, and More Connected
1. Seamless Creation: From Idea to Reality
We believe the creative process should be free from limits—whether they’re technical, time-related, or situational. Atomm creates a truly seamless environment for creators:
By integrating these resources, Atomm shrinks the distance between inspiration and creation, opening up new possibilities for makers everywhere.
2. Smarter Tools for Better Creativity
Technology should support your creativity, not replace it. Atomm’s advanced tools remove barriers so you can focus on what matters: your ideas.
3. Connecting Creators Worldwide
Creativity thrives when shared. With Atomm, we’re building a global community where creators from all kinds of backgrounds can connect, collaborate, and inspire each other:
Atomm is more than a platform. It’s a space where every idea can take root, where every creator can find their voice, and where inspiration grows stronger through connection.
A Promise to Our DesignFind Users
To all our loyal DesignFind users, we want to reassure you:
Every creative idea is like an atom—small, but full of potential. And when these atoms come together, they build something far greater than the sum of their parts.
At Atomm, every creator is both the spark of an idea and the builder of the world. Let’s connect those sparks and create a future filled with infinite possibilities.
The Atomm Team
As someone who never appreciated the tortured nomenclature of the DesignFind moniker, I'm happy to see this rebranding, even if it does feel like yet another dressing on the set. I truly hope xTool will focus on moderating to encourage quality content here. I've all but given up on this space, as it degraded into a flashy, race-to-the-bottom pattern shop. For those of us who learned how to engrave and valued the high-quality projects some of the founding members posted (and still post) here, this dilution has been quite disappointing.
I also hope you bring back some of the features you previously eliminated, like discussions. Feels like you've made it harder for customers to provide and discuss feedback on the tools and services you offer. I look forward to seeing where the team (and community) takes this.
Hi,
Three questions about Atomm.
1. Is it possible to save my projects locally instead of on the cloud? I design at home, but my shop has no internet service, so I need to transport files via laptop to the shop.
2. Due to the different ages of my lasers and 3D printers, I have computers with several operating systems to match software that is compatible with my machines. Does Atomm run on Windows 7? Or on Windows 11 only? I have both, but it affects which machine I use for designs.
3. Can work created in Atomm be exported to .dxf or other graphic formats?
Thank you,
Chris Bohn
Hi there, thanks so much for reaching out with your questions! We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your needs, and we’re here to help. For 1: You can design your projects at home using Atomm and download them to your computer or an external drive to bring to your shop. This way, you can work even without an internet connection! For 2: Atomm is browser-based, so it’s not tied to any specific operating system. You can access and download templates through any browser, but currently, our Studio tools work best in Chrome. The good news? We’re working on supporting other browsers very soon! For 3: Exporting to .dxf or other formats isn’t available yet, but we really appreciate your feedback and will definitely consider adding this feature in future updates. Thanks again for your questions, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can help with. We’re excited to see what you create with Atomm! 😊
