Last year, you told us:
“I love making things, but...”
❌ “Designing from scratch is too hard.”
❌ “Switching between softwares kills my flow.”
❌ “I just want to create, not become a software expert.”
So we asked ourselves:
What if we could turn these “buts” into “hell yeahs”?
The Spark Ignites Soon
We’re not just launching new tools—we’re rebuilding the creation experience around your struggles. Think of it as:
🛠️ A power-up for your creativity – not your technical skills;
⏳ Time saved – not steps added;
🚪 An open door – not a steep staircase.
Your Turn to Imagine
We’ll reveal everything soon, but first:
What’s the ONE thing that would make designing feel effortless to you?
👉 Is it...
Comment your #1 idea – maybe your idea already lives in our code!
While we start with what you love (yes, glorious laser workflows!), this is just the beginning. In the coming months, we'll expand to DTF, MetalFab and beyond.
The real question isn’t “What’s changing?”
It’s “What will you design when ‘can’t’ becomes ‘can’?”
Hi..I would like to see a way to edit projects without having to use vectors. They are a nightmare to figure out, lol. Still trying, however. Anything you can do to make the process easier and smoother for those of us who are technically challenged, ie did not grow up in the computer age, would be greatly appreciated :)
To make the whole process effortless and fun. Especially for beginners.
To be able to identify the material and center the text/image on it.
Please make the progress bar accurate.
I would LOVE an auto-nesting feature for all designs on the canvas for maximum material usage (similar to Deepnest software).
It would be such a time-saver!
PS Love the software and the dedication you all give to it.
no toggling back and forth between design space and other websites that may or may not be compatible with what design space can do..
knowing which websites can be maneuvered when importing and
being able to change images to make them your own.
Make the editing feature more stable. The lines go where they want not where I want them. Lines jump across other lines making editing nodes extremely difficult.
The ability to make changes to power and speed once the project has already started without having to stop and start at the beginning.
I find that the simple need to switch between the ‘hand’ and ‘pointer’ is time consuming. I'm used to software that allows a right or left click and hold action to grab the canvas and move it around (preferably right). Having to move to the hand click and then reverse the action to continue is bugging.
A simple click to convert your flat design to the right image for rotary items.
For example: I made an image for on a christmas decoration. 1 Click or choose product and diameter and the image will be converted for that round object.
Layers and KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
(this is all related I think "UI / UX Changes)
KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS FOR EVERY TOOL AND FEATURE BOTH HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
I'll second Woodworkingal: being able to measure distances and dimensions would help greatly. I don't work images, I make models, and their parts must fit together precisely after being cut and engraved. Also, being able to import STL and OBJ directly would help greatly.
make it easier to measure between images for placement reasons. I would like to see the actual number between images
Make it easier to engrave detailed photos on jewelry and quicker
You use terms that I don't understand at all. Where can I go to be taught? What is DTF, MetalFab and especially Beyond? I am 73 years old, know very little about computers and the various programs. I would love some kind of reference area to learn. I bet I am not alone. Thanks.
The ability to change and edit text without having to start all over.
A seamless space like thingiverse, where you can share, and download, Laser files !
A much easier way to create words and phrases that can be cut out by the laser and remain intact… INCLUDING the dot above an i please!
Currently it can take AGES to create a cutout, with extra symbols having to be inserted, in order to ‘join’ words together.
Please keep us folks with older machines in mind. The wallet can't always afford new!! Also…easy to find videos when you come out with new goodies in the software. I love your products and own 4 units…
A way to mark the “area” and then outline that area so we can create borders the shape of the area.
Simple interface for beginners, I find it hard to find some of the tools and commands
I would like to be able to thicken the lines drawn by the pen tool. However, xcs just gets better with each upgrade.
Tools like imag-r
How about one simple click to switch back and forth between millimeters and inches.
currently needing to switch between canva/inkscape and XTool. Creative Space needs more design capabilities like Illustrator/Photoshop/Inkscape can do so I don't have to switch between them. Particularly for M1 Ultra users like me, I can't print on an external printer (for quality and ink savings) and then place back in the M1 Ultra to cut without a LOT of manual effort to get clean accurate cuts. Even with the extra work there is a lot of error. I am hoping this update fixes some of the manual work. Great machine. Master of none though…
Don’t make upgrades that are too complicated to follow for us beginners. CAD and the like are fantastic if you know what they do and can use them. Most amateur crafters would not have any idea and will end up with an expensive piece of machinery collecting dust just like the unused Cricuts. I was lucky enough to go on a course for PageMaker in the 70s/80s which gave me an insight into how XCS works, not many older crafters got that chance.
More attachments for the M1 Ultra would be great and the ability to use acrylic like white and light colours.
Allowing designs to be layed out on a material to take up the least possible space/ fit as many pieces on the material as possible.
My background was selling Radan CADCAM software to the sheetmetal industry driving lasers, punch machines etc until retirement. Radan have an extremally powerful nesting algorithm which allows customer to list a batch of different components of the same material specification and thickness and the software will automatically lay that out into the material to get the best material utilisation.
On the CAD side having the ability to trim features would make geometry creation simpler (I am relatively new to XCS so I might have missed something)
Looking forward to this release
On the MI ultra being able to use much finer nib pens than the .4 would be incredible as I am a detail artist…..
1 - Make the creative sketching more natural in creative space., trimming and cutting over lapping lines.
2. how about designing in 3D and option to take each part into the flattened shape to laser cut.
create ai logos of all industries and occupations.
An ai that can create vector designs that can be cut, engraved, and scored, not just ai for images.
An ai that can create vector designs that can be cut, engraved, and scored, not just ai for images.
A 3d mockup tool, and a way to generate tabs to connect 2d pieces into 3d objects. Also a way to make layered art more easily.
Something that gives some more dimensioning tools for more engineering focused design with the ability to make technical designs, but also still be able to do more artistic design. Things like a gear generator would also be really nice.
#is it a fully functioning design software built into xcs? (like silhouette or lightburn)
Can you make your soft ware more like Auto cad for designing?
I so hope its NOT Canva!
I prefer more designer programs to design, that would be a step back for advanced creative people.
Wow, this looks so mysterious! Could it be related to the previous Atomm UAT invitation?
